It is a roof over your roof. We build a scaffold frame up and over the building, then sheet the top of it in corrugated steel. The old roof comes off underneath while the property stays completely covered — and the roofers keep working whatever the forecast says.

Leave a reviewIt's a temporary roof. We build a scaffold frame up and over the existing roof, then fix corrugated steel sheets across the top of it. Your building ends up with a second roof sitting above the real one, so the old roof can come off entirely while everything underneath stays covered and dry.
Because a stripped roof in a North Devon January is an open house. With a tin hat the roofers keep working through rain and wind, the new timbers and insulation go in dry instead of soaked, and there's no tarpaulin to blow off and leave you with water coming through the ceiling at two in the morning. On insurance work it also protects everything inside while the repair happens.
Yes — and this is worth asking any scaffolder you speak to. Temporary roofs fall outside the standard TG20 compliance sheets, so they can't just be thrown up to a rule of thumb. They need a bespoke design with wind loading calculations behind them, because a large sheeted roof catches wind like a sail. We arrange that as part of the job.
As long as your job needs it. While it's standing it gets inspected at least every seven days, and again after any alteration or after weather that could have affected it, with the paperwork handed to you each time. If the programme slips, that's fine — just let Shane know.
Usually, yes. A lot of our work is on sloping ground, narrow lanes, terraces with no side access and rural properties with a field for a driveway. Bridged sections over conservatories, extensions and outbuildings are routine. If a job genuinely isn't safe to scaffold, we'll tell you that rather than take the money and hope.
We're based in North Molton and work right across North Devon and Exmoor — Barnstaple, South Molton, Bideford, Ilfracombe, Braunton, Combe Martin, Torrington, Chulmleigh and the villages in between. If you're a bit further out, ring anyway and Shane will tell you straight whether it's worth the travel.

Price depends on the size of the structure, the access, how long you need it and whether it's a straight independent scaffold or a full temporary roof — so anyone quoting you over the phone without seeing it is guessing.
